You can use Sierra or High Sierra, the choice is yours to make.

I have never used a taco to upgrade.

It should not be necessary to completely reinstall.

In the App Store, It just shows "Update". I would assume it wants me to update to mojave. How to i get just high sierra? I apologise for my newbieness.

OK, it has downloaded. I hit install, then it tells me to reboot. I reboot and nothing changes?
