I tried to search the forums for a fix but I've been stuck for about a day now, so I'm sorry if this has been covered and I just didn't find the solution.

I am trying to direct update through App Store download from Sierra to High Sierra (had no issues doing so from El Capitan to Sierra). At first I was just getting a suspiciously quick restart and realized it was booting direct into existing install with no update. Came here, found this guide (https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/update-directly-to-macos-high-sierra.232707/), tried the HFS+ bit and at least got the "boot macOS install" option at boot screen, only to have it get hung up on the apple logo with no progress bar. Let it sit for long stretches (20+ minutes) with nothing happening.

Any ideas? I'm fairly beginner at this stuff. :(

bump, still having no luck

This is where I’m at

Clover v 4.60.3.4
3.49 intel core i7

i7 ? Model number not the frequency please and motherboard model?
The i7 is it Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge, Haswell, Broadwell, Skylake, Kabylake, Coffeekake etc.

If you use the cursor arrows in clover boot menu and go to “options” tab hit enter then go to “binaries”. It will list the i7 device ID which will help.
Did you update clover before trying to upgrade to High Sierra?
