Hello, all.

As the title states, I am currently stuck attempting to boot from a USB with High Sierra on it. I am using Clover as well, and that has no issues whatsoever. I can boot from any OS and I am able to modify boot arguments as well.

The issue is that I have attempted a plethora of configurations. I have tried several different config.plist (including the one from RehabMan's GitHub), boot arguments, kexts, etc.

I know I can run the OS on the laptop because I have been able to make it to the installer once, but the actual installation resulted in an error, so I figured that there must have been an error in the creation of the boot drive.

I generally get a full bar on the loading screen, but it does nothing. I also get stuck on verbose mode an a RAM disk initialization of 5 MB. Seems rather low, and I get that the most often.

If anyone can help me, I would very much appreciate it.

Thank you in advance.

Follow the Clover guide linked from the FAQ.
http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capita...faq-read-first-laptop-frequent-questions.html

Although you should read the FAQ for an overview of issues, the Clover guide is linked from the first question: "Q. Where do I start?", just after the bold face "Clover Guide".
Here is a direct link, just to be clear:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-booting-the-os-x-installer-on-laptops-with-clover.148093/

Also, your profile must be filled out with complete details as requested in the FAQ, again under "Q. Where do I start?". All seven details requested are equally important.

And if you have an issue (after following the guide), or on any other problem, you must provide a detailed description of the problem including information that helps us understand what you're doing. Always attach "Problem Reporting" files as per FAQ.
http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capita...faq-read-first-laptop-frequent-questions.html
The required files and data are fully detailed in the last question in the FAQ:
"Q. What are typical "Problem Reporting" files?"

Ok. So, I am now able to boot, and most things are about as bare bones as can be. I can use my keyboard and trackpad, so that's good enough atm. My next step is to try to get the graphics working. I keep rebooting at a kernel panic roughly half way through booting the OS. I'm going to upload my current Clover folder, and I will say that using FakeID/IntelGFX = 0x12345678 allows me to boot, but I only get Intel HD620 21MB.

config.plist isn't from guide

also MacBookPro14,1 would be a better choice

and you may want to read up on DVMT-prealloc from the laptop guide
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-booting-the-os-x-installer-on-laptops-with-clover.148093/

The config.plist was me attempting to replicate what most people were getting to work in the Graphics section on this forum.

Gotcha. Any reason that would be a better choice? I'm a bit curious on how SMBIOS affects everything (I've set up a Hackintosh before, but I didn't quite understand the SMBIOS aspect on what changes would be made).

I'll take a look in my UEFI to see if I can adjust the DVMT If not, do I need to use a patch to bypass it? I looked around and attempted to use one, but no cigar.

the graphics section is for desktops

14,1 11,1 13,1 are for laptops, 14,2 14,3 etc are for desktops, this is quite important

DVMT-prealloc on Broadwell/Skylake/Kaby Lake

this is very important in making your graphics work, there is a patch in the laptop guide (all the config.plists in the laptop guide has this patch) hence my mention about config.plist from the guide :)

Gotcha. Ok, so I went ahead and used the config.plist from the guide (specifically the non spoof 6xx one).

I loaded with 0x12345678, rebuilt my cache, and I am still getting a kernel panic. Now, I'm going to look into it, but I did want to ask whether or not that config.plist would have to be modified. I know it is currently geared towards 630. Is that going to be a problem, or will those values work across all iGPUs listed on that .plist?

"Problem Reporting" files are incomplete.
Read FAQ, "Problem Reporting" again. Carefully. Attach all requested files/output.

Also, need photo of the KP that shows the kext backtrace (it is prior to the info you show).

Also, when you say "loaded with 0x12345678", make sure you're using ig-platform-id 0x12345678 not using 0x12345678 as a FakeID. FakeID defeats the purpose...

Thanks, RehabMan. I just realized I was actually doing it backwards, but I believe I have corrected myself.

So, I am still using the plist for 6xx series, I booted up with 0x12345678 ig-platform-id and 0x59168086 Fake ID, rebuilt my cache, changed my ig-platform-id to 0x5916b000, and rebooted with that.

This is what I am currently getting through verbose, and here is my current Clover.zip as well.

(I can work on getting the rest of the Problem Reporting tools on my system, but I just wanted to post this to see if it is a simple fix or not).
