Today I plugged my 4k Samsung TV into the second connector of my GTX 1080 Ti card and to my surprise the audio output HDMi Samsung was listed in the sound preferences panel of the system preferences. And it works, when I select it the sounds comes out the TV.

My Asus MX27UC is always connected via HDMi but that is never listed in the preferences panel.
Sound is properly set on the monitor, HDMi is selected.
I wonder why, I tried the cable I used for the TV, used the same port,...

Any ideas?

Asus MX27UQ Review – Classy 4K IPS Monitor With FreeSync and Enhanced Audio:
The ports include DisplayPort 1.2a, HDMI 2.0, HDMI 1.4, a lone USB 3.0 slot with fast charging, and 3.5mm jacks for the speakers.

Speakers: 3.5 mm analog input
Yes, I could use the 3.5 mm analog input but that does not answer my question:
Why is HDMi sound not recognized on my monitor and my Samsung TV HDMi sound is recognized and working?

FYI: My monitor is the MX27UC, not the UQ but that is of no importance.
