I have a couple of Hard Drives; a 5.25 inch Seagate 4 TB with external power supply as well as a 2TB Toshiba 2.5 inch and a WD 2TB 2.5 inch without external power; none of them work. I bought a powered USB 3 4-Port Hub today because i assumed it could be a current issue; but even the hub without a connected device seems to "black out" my monitor.

usb 3 connected at start:
the machine starts… i see the leds flicker at the front panel… but nothing on my monitor…. but i can access it via ethernet.

usb 3 connected to the running machine (hot plug):
monitor goes black instantly, but the machine is still accessible via network

usb 3 disconnected at start:
normal behavior; all seems well.

strange.

Shut down the computer and unplug the 4TB drive. Remove the 4-port hub, and connect the 2TB drive. See if the computer will boot up normally. I have a 1TB WD drive for Time Machine back ups and a 8TB WD Easystore. If I try to boot the computer with the 8TB drive hooked up it will stop at the HP splash screen. This is a problem with the BIOS. From the info I've been able to find a powered USB hub will do it too. Right now there is nothing you can do to fix it. Its not a problem with the computer or OS itself. This problem happens with Windows too. For now I just have to unplug the 8TB usb, let the computer boot and then plug it in while its running.

Please, don't pound your head against the wall because of a sleep problem. Here's what you can do. Implement CPU power management if you haven't already.
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...ro-8300-elite-desktop-pc.243272/#post-1672156 You'll need to create an SSDT for your 3570 CPU.

Make sure your power saver settings look like this. Uncheck everything. If those two things don't fix sleep then it may be best to perform a clean install. You can follow the new High Sierra video install guide. It goes into great detail on every step of the whole process.

Resolved !!!!!!!
Tonight I remembered that on the same day of the update, I had added a PCI firewire. This morning I took it off and now the standby works perfectly.
I apologize for the trouble.
in the next days we might try to make firewire work with standby.
Thank you again and sorry for everything.

Try the 10.13.3 that is out today.

EDIT: I've just updated to 10.13.3 and sleep works with no problems. Wakes in 2 seconds after clicking my mouse.
How about the Nvidia web drivers? Is there an update to match the 10.13.3 update?

Of course. Once you reboot after the update and get to the desktop, the Nvidia system prefs app should notify you about the new driver that is available to download and install. You can also install it before the update and then reboot. Many have reported problems with the newest driver but I haven't experienced those. See the current driver update thread and read about possible issues.

If your current web drivers work perfectly in 10.13.2 you can stay with that longer and see if Nvidia resolves the issues. Waiting is not crowded !

Thank you Guys for help TR96, jzheng & Jasdoc
Now done x3 8300, I use all 3 on wired network, with AsusBT400 bluetooth. All working gud, except poor sound thru inbuilt speaker, but HDMI works great. imessages work too.
Last riddle: is it possible to activate continuity ?, CAT does not identify asusBT400, but bluetooth working well
Looked at wificards as suggested but out of budget at present. will TPlink T1u or 725n help
Cheers

Really? That would be a bit disappointing for me, as i could not copy files between different drives. I have built a total of 3 machines; i have access to two of them right now.

machine#1 is mine and the one in question; a 8300 sff, 8 GB RAM, i5, Zotac gtx 1050; mac os 10.12.6 on the ssd and Win7Pro64 on a 500GB HDD

machine#2 is for a friend, a 8300 mt; i7, 8GB RAM, MSI gtx 1050ti, 240 GB SSD and 500 GB HDD; Mac Os 10.12.6 only

machine#3 is for another friend, a 8300 sff, i5, 8GB RAM ZOTAC gtx 1050ti, 240 GB SSD for 10.12.6 and 500 GB HDD for Win7 Pro 64

All have BIOS V 3.04; all were built following this great guide. yesterday i tested the usb3 bus on #2; no problems whatsoever; i´ve connected 3 drives to 3 ports as well as 3 drives to the hub and the hub to a single port while the machine was up and running.

#1 works, if a maximum of 1 usb3 drive is connected before boot. I´ve activated ssh on #1 and can now shut it down from another mac. This way, i don´t have to "pull the plug" every time the screen goes dark.

I will further investigate this by

•disconnecting the extension cables from my machine and trying it locally (it´s in a machine room)

•removing the graphics card, resetting the mainboard (BIOS has to be manually set up after this)
and putting the graphics card back in.

•disconnecting the windows hdd

•reinstalling the 7/8/9 usb drivers from multibeast

•reinstalling the complete os...

I´ll report back here if i find a solution...

Chris

I'm running the USDT version with an i7-3770s, 8GB of ram and a 320GB HDD. Also on v3.04 BIOS. If you find a solution please let me know. I would love to be able to reboot while I am out of the house if I needed too.

Here is the tread that has the most info that I have found so far: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Busin...-t-boot-with-USB-drive-connected/td-p/5053300

Hello

I apologize in advance if this has been covered. I have read most of the thread and did not see it. Can I install the Thunderbolt Firmware 1.2 update and hope it goes away? I have the HP Elite 8300 I7 / GXT 1050 and I am not aware of any thunderbolt hardware to update. Makes me a little nervous. :)
