How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Well, after flashing an unmodified 1102 BIOS and enabling Pike's xcpm_core_scope_msrs patch there are no longer kernel panics upon wake from sleep! :beachball: uptime close to 72 hours with over 20 sleep/wake cycles - yay!

While this is very nice and I am more than happy to have a perfect setup for my needs and wants, I think it is just weird because I am deviating from the default set in the guide by the venerable @kgp

Namely:
XCPM is only activated with an SSDT
I have to use an unmodified BIOS with the one Pike's patch to avoid KP on wake
I have no KernelPM patch enabled

That's totally weird. You have one of the first CPUs natively supported be OSX and you have the same board like me.. Something must be totally odd with your system configuration...

You should be easily able to run native HPW with batched BIOS and without any XCPM patch. Sleep/Wake is a totally different story, which currently does not work for me either (error E3 on wake).

Hey Guys,

Ide love to be able to get HwSensors working better if possible.

@kgp i know you played around a little bit with it a while ago...did you ever get anywhere?

i know fabiosun has a few more sensors working than i do (not sure if he is on a different board or not)

anyways, any help/knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

here is a screenshot of what works. (some of the voltages dont seem right)

How did you manage to retrieve the CPU sensor information for at least 21 threads? Is there any new version flying around? Please upload HWMonitor.app and Sensor.kexts or provide a link to the new source..

You know that the approach I recently implemented was a fork of @interferenc, whom I asked repeatedly whether or not there is some progress in the right direction without getting really some further feedback. With his distribution, I just get the CPU sensor information for 10 threads out of 36..

i didnt count 21, but i guess its still more than you head. currently using r86 fork of slice.

along with the FakeSMC.kext that is included in that build i am also currently using the following sensor plugins.

ACPIMonitor.kext
W836x.kext
RadeonMonitor.kext (for amd only obviously)

Using his:

FakeSMC.kext
ACPIMonitor.kext
GeforceSensor.kext
IntelCPUMonitor.kext
W836x.kext

I retrieve the following somewhat deceiving information, using his HWMonitorSMC:

CPU Temp sensor data for 9 threats, CPU Frequency sensor data for 15 threads. Fan RPMs are totally wrong. No Info bout Nvidia GPU..

which is why i posted. looking for how to get it setup better.... do you have a better configuration that you use?

Thank you man! i could have done that as well, but thanks for taking the first step!

Also i would message you privatley for this but i think u have me blocked for it.

are you by chance running 10.3.3 on your build? if you are, have you updated to beta 6 today?

if you have it seems to have messed up the usb for me (appears as though the port limit patch is broken)... wondering if youve seen any info on this, or if you have any ideas.

Sorry for being a tad off topic with this post. like i said i cannot message you private

I already have iMac Pro :D

It's version 17C2120, I know because the only webdriver that has let me install has been WebDriver-378.10.10.10.25.105 that corresponds to 17C2120.

Why is not 17C2120 indicated in "About this Mac" along with version number 10.13.2?

I would not see any relation of this error with NvidiaGraphicsFixUp kext. Please carefully read and strictly follow and apply my guide.

Thanks,

KGP

Believe me I have, 3 times now. The one difference with my system is that I have 2x GTX 1080Ti, which might be causing the issue (since WindowServer is related to GFX cards). I'd remove one but they're watercooled and stuck together...
