I've built a similar machine. Had to update lilu, else I couldn't boot from installer flash drive. After that installation went ok to a sata hdd. Later I tried to repeat that with a SATA SSD and got an error about corrupted baseinstall.pkg. Dunno what helped exactly, but after removing emuvariableuefi and repeating from scratch it went fine. Also added clover hdmiaudio flag to enabled sound over hdmi.

No, it's not listed.

looks like this

Thinking about such a setup. Is the internal graphics capable of driving two terminals 4K@60 each?

erik, have you measured the power consumption of this build? I'm thinking about making something similar, but with a 90w picoPSU since I already have one. With the non-K chips having a 65w TDP, I'm wondering if the 90w picoPSU would do the job even when the CPU is in a turbo state.

Edit: the i5-8400 appears to max out at ~50w under full load, so a 90w picoPSU should do the job. That said, maybe the 160w model could power a i7-8700 + RX 460, which would be even nicer!

I’ve never had intel power gadget go much over the rated 60w for my uses. I never measured using hardware

90 would probably work if you’re not doing high intensity work for long periods of time and you don’t have much else being powered by the PSU.

Erik, perhaps I missed it in the thread, but will this case also take a 15mm 2.5" hard drive (in addition to an m.2 SSD)?

Yes, it has a mount for two of them. I think the i5 would be too hot for two of them especially without side fans.

I actually added one hdd since original build. It increased cpu temps by five degrees (32->37) because it blocks some exhaust. But still cool enough.

You’ll definitely need a low profile cooler
