macOS High Sierra 10.13 Supplemental Update

Yes, my test system is on build 405. It's a virgin (fresh install) w/o my production systems' apps.

Maybe I just have to start completely over...thinking the upgrade may have scrambled something and I’m not sure what it is.

Having the same experience as you. I was able to get the first version of High Sierra working using the advice here but High Sierra Supplemental has been a frustratingly tough challenge. So far, I can’t get Nvidia installed no matter what settings I use.

Tried SMBIOS 6,1 and 17,1 but made no difference.

WAHT THE ****
God?,please explain why the hell did I just now successfully booted with my NvidiaWeb Graphics ON ????

I was so freaking angry I installed a bunch of stuff, I just said, **** it
and it WORKED !!!!

I think I know what I did.
I will test this now and report

* UPDATE: Oh my god... I also have audio with out installing any kexts or doing absolutely any thing.

Awesome. Tell me what you installed! Have a similar motherboard.

I never upgrade to a new macOS until at least the .3 update; that way, macOS and the supporting 3rd party apps and drivers have caught up, too. So, this test system is for my Uni/MultiBeast testing only. Another reason not to upgrade is the still buggy Apple File System and it's impact on hackintoshes.

DUDE !
I have my graphics still freaking working with out nv_drv=1, with out NvidiaWeb=true

If you ask me... its magic.
Im still investigating.
iM Removing a thing at a time to see what caused the drivers to work.

"Also some one mentioned that if you don't have NVRAM then you should use some EMUsomething.efi
how do I know if I have NVRAM? (makes no sense though since my SSD is NVRAM basically)"

That is true. Open Clover Configurator and look in its left column down to the "Install Drivers" item. Click on that and you will see the "EmuVariableUEFI" listed in the "Drivers UEFI 64 Bit" area. Click on the open boot icon to its right to read the info. Your motherboard does need that file installed; if the "EmuVariableUEFI" text window is shaded, you already have it. If not, in the upper right corner of the overall window be sure you see the "EFI" partition selected, then just click on the "EmuVariableUEFI" text window and it will be installed for you. If I understand correctly from reading articles on this forum, the "100"-series motherboards do not have NVRAM implemented in the hardware. (I have the same board as you and I needed this driver.)

(BTW, an SSD is not considered non-volatile RAM but rather separate storage, even though it is non-volatile and randomly accessible. Hey, in the computer world, IMHO English just doesn't do it for us non-geeks.)

Yes I think you are right, I did outrageously install EmuVariableUEFI lol.
But... how do you explain the fact I have audio? this I definitely did not install.

I'm glad and happy that you figured it out, maybe post your steps so other with the same issue can use the search and get helped.

This is the fix that did it for me.
Hope this helps others.
  1. install latest Lilu.kext into /Library/Extensions using KextBeast.
  2. install latest NvidiaGraphicsFixup.kext into /Library/Extensions using KextBeast.
    • These two kexts fix the black screen at boot for iMac17,1 SMBIOS. (not the boot loop issue)
  3. Put EmuVariableUefi.efi into /EFI/CLOVER/Drivers64UEFI
    • This is the extensions that actually fixes the boot loop issue.
* If you are mainly using HDMI audio, there is no need for any other kexts or patches to fix audio.
Thats because NvidiaGraphicsFixup.kext has audio fix embedded so HDMI audio will work out of the box!
