Thanks for Step 9 in the original post re audio.

I'm running an 8300 with I7-3770 (so HD4000 onboard graphics) via DisplayPort and can confirm that sound is working over DisplayPort :)

macOS has no support for HDMI 2.0. We are stuck with HDMI 1.2 which limits us to 30Hz at 4K. There has been a few isolated instances of people getting 60Hz at 4K, but it was inconsistent and not reproducible.

I don't know how well adaptors will work.

If your old laptop was running macOS, odds are that it would not get 4K@60Hz.
It's a Linux machine and it just gives display at 1366x768 I am not seeking for 4k I'll be glad about 1080p too but it appears that either my display port to HDMI adapter is faulty or macOS don't want it to work.... looking forward to a 22" monitor with HDMI port and a Graphics card.

I've used a GT 630 and GTX 745 with a 1080p TV via HDMI without any major issues.

I've also used the built-in HD 4000 with a DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor. In this instance, it worked with my 1080p TV but didn't display an image with my old monitor. I don't know if it was the adaptor or the monitor. I've since upgraded monitors but have not tried with my current monitor.

Finally, got updated. The problem was with SIP settings. I've changed 0x67 to 0x3
Cannot update to HS. Got stupid white screen. I'm using a gt710 and SSD Samsung EVO 250gb.
Finally, got updated. The problem was with SIP settings. I've changed 0x67 to 0x3 and get a smooth update.

Hey all- Just found this little subcommunity here and stumbled across an sff 8300 elite with i5-4570 (4600 onboard graphics) and ssd. Would the guides here work on this machine?

Not possible. The 4570 is Haswell and the 8300 only accepts Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge chips. Did you mean I5-3570 ?

Unless the description is wrong i5-4570 is listed multiple times. Could possibly be mistake but there are several i5-3470 listed also and price difference reflects the better chip and ssd. If photo is accurate, case is updated all black.

Post a link to it. I'll see what is a misprint for you.

Once again, and MAJOR thanks to trs96 and all others who have contributed to this thread/guide. I've had my first hackintosh setup for a few days now and it's a fantastic machine. I love it!

I did run into something that I didn't see in the guide that may help others. I have my mac always on with remote access via the Teamviewer app. The only issue is that this location sometimes had power failures. I could get a batter backup, but I'm cheap (ha!) so in the past, in Mac OS I just clicked the box to have the Mac automatically restart after a power failure in the Energy Saver preferences.

Well, I noticed with this 8300 hackintosh, there's no option for this in the Energy Saver settings. All I see is this:

Well, I saw that a workaround is very easy by solving this through the BIOS. Thus, I just changed this setting in the HP BIOS:
Advanced > Power-On Options > After Power Loss > ON

Works like a charm. I tested it by restarting my Mac, waiting a bit and then just yanking the power cable out and waiting a min or so. Then plugging it back in. The HP 8300 booted back up, launched Clover, then Mac OS and I was back in business with Teamviewer set to auto launch after login.

Just wanted to pass this along in case someone else goes into the Energy Saver prefs and needs help with the restart after power failure option. Thanks again trs96 for the great guide...this machine is fantastic.
