Motherboard
2010 Macbook Pro 15" / Imac 24" / iMac 20"
Mac
  1. iMac
  2. MacBook
  3. MacBook Pro
i reinstalled Yosemite on my 20" iMac 2008 this weekend, and after taking all the updates,
i noticed Safari was stuck at version 8.01 or something.. and Safari Extensions webpage never
offered any install options for uBlock and any other extensions, so i knew something was wrong.

i checked my Macbook Pro - on which i installed Yosemite off the *very same USB stick* a few months back,
- and it already had Safari 10 on it -

Why is the Appstore not upgrading to Safari beyond 8 now ?
Have Apple suddenly decided to ditch Yosemite users and force them on to El Cap or beyond ?

I downloaded all the standalone pkgs for Yosemite, and still the same, stuck at Safari 8
and Safari wouldn't install any extensions. Some websites suggested Safari 10 was available fo Yosemite, El Cap and Sierra,
but the links posted to that - had broken.

Can anyone help me understand what's going on please ?

Thanks

You have a real Mac rather than a hackintosh so it is strange that you ask your question here as this is a forum for hackintosh users.

Anyway, have you installed the latest system updates for Yosemite (which should be 10.10.5)? If you have not then please install that first.

The latest version of Safari for Yosemite (10.1.2) can be directly downloaded from a link from here :
https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/15675/apple-safari

And with the release of High Sierra (10.13), Yosemite has fallen off support. The latest version of Safari, 11.0, is only available for El Capitan or later.

Thanks James Bond, i like Apple hardware - but not the Apple help forums - where the universal answer would likely be
don't ask questions, or 'Apple knows best' or just install High Sierra - which is an OS i won't be touching with a barge pole.
I used to run hackintoshes several years back when i got bored with Linux, and i appreciate the knowledgable folks on here much more :)
Sad that Apple retires OS's so quickly, and acts like the OS never even existed almost.
Thanks for the help and thank goodness for MacUpdate.com too.. :)

Hi Mark, same issues here.
I'm trying to find the installer package, but server is down since high sierra's update.
This specific link is not working anymore, Safari 10.1.1 for macOS 10.10 Yosemite:
http://swcdn.apple.com/content/down...784i99cz29rd472rb3yp/Safari10.1.1Yosemite.pkg

Hope we can find it!
