I just installed Snow Leopard on my Gateway NV78 laptop! It's working amazingly well, far better than I expected. All of my devices seem to be working, even my webcam, volume buttons, and touchpad. The only problems I've had are with my network adapter and my display. I've managed to connect to my wifi using my ipod as a USB adapter (check out PDANet on Cydia if you're interested). My remaining problem is now the display.
I can't change the screen resolution from 1024x768, even though my display has a resolution of 1600x900. My graphics chipset is the Intel Mobile 4 series graphics, or something like that. (I don't know how to find out on SL, which I'm on right now). I've tried using SwitchResX and adding the lines
<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>1600x900x32</string>
to a .plist somewhere, but I haven't seen any effect. What do I need to do? Is there a .kext I need to download? Sorry, I'm kind of a noob at this.
Thanks!
