Thank you so much giacomoleopardo!
Your guide really helped with getting my rig updated to El Cap. I was having a lot of troubles getting video to show up, but your tip of updating the bios and using port 5 was great. I use nvda_drv=1 in my setup.
Getting about 24000 in Geekbench 4 and 35000 in Geekbench 3 so am very happy.

I am using some lower spec parts than you (haven't upgraded for a while) but everything is working well with the guide.
  • Motherboard: ASUS Z9PE-D8 WS
  • CPU: 2x Xeon E5-2680 (8 cores per CPU)
  • GPU1: NVIDIA GTX 750Ti (ASUS STRIX)
  • RAM: 64GB Reg ECC (1600MHz Corsair)
  • Boot Drive: Intel 520M 256GB SSD
  • Case: Lian Li PC-750
  • Areca 2333 RAID card (used for a SAS ZFS array)
I do have one question...
When I generate the SSDT using ssdtPRGen, I get a warning because Sandy Bridge is not supported by MacPro6,1.

Notice: Downloading Restrictions.cfg ...
Generating ssdt.dsl for a 'MacPro6,1' with board-id [Mac-F60DEB81FF30ACF6]
Sandy Bridge Core E5-2680 processor [0x206D5] setup [0x0a01]
With a maximum TDP of 130 Watt, as specified by Intel
Number logical CPU's: 16 (Core Frequency: 2700 MHz)
Number of Turbo States: 8 (2800-3500 MHz)
Number of P-States: 24 (1200-3500 MHz)
Injected C-States for C000 (C1,C3,C6,C7)

Error: board-id [Mac-F60DEB81FF30ACF6] not supported by Sandy Bridge – check SMBIOS data / use the -target option

It still seems to boot but I think I'm not getting turbo boost. Should I be using MacPro5,1?

Also, I'm not sure the best way to check for turbo
I used this terminal command:

$sysctl hw.cpufrequency
hw.cpufrequency: 2700000000

Thanks!

Just a follow-up note, I managed to get CPU hardware sensors working using the FakeSMC and hardware sensors kexts from here: http://hwsensors.com/releases

Now I can see frequency in IStatMenus. Throttling down is working (from 2.67GHz to 1.19GHz) but Turbo seems not to be active (not bumping up to 3.1GHz). Any tips on getting it going would be appreciated.
I'm using SMBIOS MacPro6,1 at the moment.

Thanks a lot Giacomoleopardo!

I got audio and iMessage working.
And borrowed a few config mods from you.
Still can't get Sierra working with my config.
But...
I do have speedstep and turbo working.
Here my geekbench 3 score of 42000 with my 2x2670 at 105 base clock.

I made a ssdt.aml for you like I did for myself as thanks with spoofing the 2687w as a haswell v3 and then filling in the v1 specs.
Hope it works for you too.
Here the wetransfer link for the ssdt for 2x 2687w

Ill include my bios to a modded version to unlock msr.

I have speedstep and turbo set in bios.

Here my frankenstein EFI folder too for amusement.

Good luck!

Oh and make sure to install the modded bios from my post above.
I don't think it will work without but you can try ;-)

Hi , i used your bios. Also using your ssdt and generated ssdt. And have no luck on speed step? Do you have nullCPUpowermanagement ? Or please help me how I need to configure my bios . I tried many options . With seething aitweaker to 35 and disabling speed step, and using with aitweaker auto mode and speed step enabled. Only one difference that I'm using 10.12.4 . May be it help someone , Asus Radeon 7970 direct cu ii works OOB. Also ssdt-1 for nvidia hdmi also works on radeon.

Hello Byzyn4ik,

I use osx Capitan with my gtx750 somehow Sierra does not boot atm but with your Radeon it might work.
Capitan is vanilla with just AppleGraphicsControl.kext ( not really needed ) and AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext.
I will include them down here.
So no nullcpupowermanagement and with speedstep and turbo in the bios.

Hope you get it working.
Let me know if it boots and if not where its keeps hanging while booting.

Or download my EFI folder in the post above to see which kext etc I use..

all my hardware works except speedstep( thanks for your efi folder!) I am already flashed your custom bios rom.
I tried many different bios settings and istats and CPU power gadget shows me only multiplier 27. I only disabled vt-d in bios . In windows speedstep works great . But the result in Geekbench on windows and mac are the same .

My geekbench result about 21757. (On 2 2680v1)

Hm I am think only thing that I don't have a custom appleintelcpupowermanagnent , where I can get it? Or how I can patch.

I can upload tomorrow. Or google it I can't say the site name or my post gets rejected ;-) Oh and my geekbench is 42000 with speedstep so I think you have more issues going on like only 1 processor working? Or no hyperthreading...
