All,
I'm actually typing this on an HP EliteBook 850 G2 running Mac OS X Sierra 10.12.2!
MAJOR THANKS and Kudos to TonyMac for this site, extreme appreciation to RehabMan for his dedication and tireless support of the Hackintosh crowd, and tons of golf-clapping for those avid enthusiasts here who support, help and involve themselves in this effort.
Some highlights!
- AboutMyMac reports "MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015)" (Macbook Air 7,2)
- Typing this on a bluetooth Apple keyboard, paired after a little (5 mins) futzing and waiting, but using onboard Bluetooth chipset 8087:0A2A!
- Bluetooth TETHERING to my Android phone works FLAWLESSLY and I can use it as an ad-hoc wireless mobility connectivity solution for the time being until my network card comes in
- Boothtooth HEADPHONES work flawlessly - but I have not checked it for microphone functionality
- Boothtooth file transfer OBEX works perfectly with my Android phone (Android 6.0 for those that want to know, Running CYANOGENMOD
- Sleep (and resume) works!
- All USB ports *seem* to be working, albeit I'm unsure if they're using correct Kext's and/or have 3.0 enabled at present [Need to Optimize]
- WIFI isn't up yet due to me having an obviously incompatible card. I'm going to be ordering on Friday so that should be up by Saturday
- VGA port (left side on 850 G2), DisplayPort (right side on 850 G2) work PERFECTLY and I have two external HP ZDisplay 24's glowing back at me with beautiful results!
- Ethernet works!
- Audio Jack works! But I have not modified any configurations yet to enable the specific tweaks to fix the combined headphone/mic jack mux that probably needs to be sorted out before I try a headset for VOIP/Gaming, etc [Need to Optimize]
- Webcam works!
- Onboard trackpad work - but the onboard pointer (in the middle of the keyboard) works weirdly
- Have not tried the fingerprint scanner (nor do I know that it could/should be working)
- Brightness and Volume hotkeys work (and no others) -- FIRST BOOT please try adjusting your brightness to max (from zero, apparently) before re-installing! RehabMan has already noted that.

My overall build process:
(1) Followed this guide
(2) See #1
...
Things I need to research and fix (with the help of others, hopefully):
#1 - my docking station (HP UltraSlim Dock 2013) does nothing aside from power the laptop even when the laptop is properly seated and/or docked/undocked before and during bootup. No output from DP ports, VGA port, USB ports, Audio port - nothing (it seems). I sense this is due to the way the dock looks to the system - like a whole bunch of external peripherals that simply need KEXTs and/or system configurations (in the realm of DSDT/SSDT mods, injections and/or PLIST edits - those things I'm NOT so good at, but learning!). The docking station REALLY would make this a work-ready computer, although for the time being I will not mind disconnecting 6-7 cables each time I need to move to a conference room (which is like 3 to 4 times a day lol). Sucks, but that's probably the BIGGEST problem right now for me! Woot!
#2 - The startup Clover menuscreen is garbled and I have very limited boot screen (Apple loading logo) visible, albeit a little that looks perfect towards login. The initial Clover menuscreen worked fine from the USB. It seems when I installed the Clover package to the internal HDD, this display problem occured. No other display issues at all after booting - WOOT!
#3 - Verification that I've configured the system correctly using the most correct Kexts, PLISTs and other configurations. This is probably the easiest thing to do lol but I'm making it hard.
...
Overall thoughts:
RehabMans's guide (this thread) is the absolute first place to start, FROM POST #1. I would read the first 5-10 posts, if I were you. NguyenMac's guide is definitely deprecated and no longer used, but it does have some very useful archival information that is greatly revised by RM's work here.
If you get stuck in a particular step - review back at least 3 to 4 steps to ensure you're following EXACTLY the syntax, spelling, details, data that you need to in order to correctly enable this laptop to become a Hacktinosh!
This post is PROOF that this works on this model.
Thanks! all!
