[SOLVED] Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080/1070

unfortunately, it seems we need hackintosh devs to focus on making the rx 480 work perfectly
isnt it working properly already? i was thinking may be i could buy rx 480 :/

The problem with rx480 is that it needs a "helper gpu" That's ok if you have an IGPU, but apps like Final Cut X will crash, beacause it isn't optimized for multi GPU. I'm with the same problem, i have a 1070, and i'm looking for an AMD card for open cl purpuses.

Would it be wise or a waste of money to buy a used GTX 970 until things work themselves out. I'm currently using a GTX 660 ti and the GTX 970 would be roughly twice as fast.
I mean the chances of those drivers coming out soon are getting slimmer and slimmer. Worse comes to worse you could sell the 970 if the drivers come along, at least you'll have some decent performance in the quite possibly very long mean time.

That's what I was thinking, now I just need to be patient and try to nab one at a good price.

I think someone managed to make the IGPU+RX480 work by deleting the kexts for IGPU. That way, the helper GPU works when booting up but in macOS, the IGPU is not shown, therefore no conflicts and crashes...I personally have a GTX780ti but I was planning to upgrade to a 1060 (just to lower the noise of the GPU under load), however, I will need to look at the RX470/480. Wish someone would come up with an easy way to activate them because I'm not that skilled and the instructions on how to get it to work are very hard to understand...

That's exactly what I did, replacing my old GTX 750 with a GTX 970 and sold my 1060. The 970 benches almost the same with the 1060. I could not be happier.

I've been holding out for the drivers like everyone else... but after finding an old unused Quadro K4000 at work, I'm joining the "two cards" camp.. :/

Guys, I just recommend you to sell these Geforce Pascal graphic cards . I now offer my GTX 1080 on Ebay and I bought a GTX 980 Ti for 398 Euros . Runs like hell on MacOS and no noticeable difference with respect to the GTX 1080 under Windows when gaming . I finally got rid of this driver nightmare and I feel lighter and free! :headbang: !Pascal on Hackintosh is DEAD!

Where did you find your GTX 980 Ti for 398 Euros? :)

Ebay or Amazon, do not remember... was a return from a client to the web shop. Basically new one. Hope you can find a similar offer.
