The nvidia system preference pane will not enable the drivers - even though it gives you the option. To enable them, you need to edit your config.plist file. Just go to the post installation thread for graphics and I am sure you can find the correct setting.
In fact, if you go into the thread titled "Solving NVIDIA Driver Install & Loading Problems", take a look at "Problem 6".

New driver released 2 days ago for 15G1004Unfortunatily none of the mentioned fixes worked for me:

I can boot with nv_disable=1 but not with anything else.
Gtx 980 ti here, everything worked good before the latest update.

I ran AGDPfix.v1.3.zip from this post and it fixed the problem.
