Hi

I set up a hackintosh for a friend and for a few months now she hasn't been able to get it to work.

I think she might've done a security update or card update, but now when we put the right driver, it wont get past a grey screen with no cursor.
Using: 10.10.5 OSX (14F1509):http://us.download.nvidia.com/Mac/Qu...6.02.03f04.pkgfor the 14F1509 build.

Make sure the bootflag nvda_drv=1 is still present in your config or in the NVRAM.

nvda_drv=1 was missing, even though I added it once, it wasn't when I checked this morning.

However even after adding that line, it still gives the same result. Boots up with a grey screen and no cursor.
Below is a SS of the Mac os x version, booted with the nvidia driver uninstalled and using the integrated graphics processor.

Reinstall the driver (the correct one for your build number) and be sure to use nvda_drv=1.

I'm in England right now and the computer is in Spain. I had a friend look at it and he tried -v but the text was scrolling too fast apparently and goes back into the grey screen. I'm going to have to book a flight to fix this personally. I'm also going to take my HD radeon 7870 to see if AMD drivers are better, because I'm fed up with their driver updates specific to each build.

What is the grey screen associated with btw? Could it be that a different nvidia driver for a different build might work?

You should use the driver that is made for what ever build of OS X you are running. I have a feeling it is due to a cache issue which -f should ignore kernel cache or your can boot using nv_disable=1 and then rebuild kernel cache using terminal and the following two commands:

sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel
sudo kextcache -system-caches

The computer booted fine today and no changes were made! The guy tested it for 30 mins and found a problem in Mail (IMAP wasn't syncing). He rebooted and now it's back to a grey screen. Kernel cache was rebuilt as instructed. Any ideas?

Uninstall the web driver. Reboot with nv_disable=1 and REDOWNLOAD the driver and reinstall. Reboot.
