On Dec 11 Apple issued this update. This breaks the NVidia alternate graphics driver. An updated driver seems not available yet. You may want to hold back the Apple update until NVidia releases their updated driver.

I also noticed that this update broke my sleep function with AMD R9 280X. The computer goes to sleep but when waken up, it reboots.

Yep, it showed up sometime between 10:30 and 11pm friday night. I had just finished updating one of my hackintoshes after carefully checking there was nothing that would break my system. At that time there was just an iTunes and Safari updates and all went well. By the time I got around to updating a second hackintosh the security update had posted and I wasn't as careful and installed it without realizing what I had done.

I am glad I have a time machine backup for just these sorts of occasions and managed to restore and am now back up and running as if nothing happened. I highly recommend everyone keep a backup!

I just wish Apple would let me hide the update and not keep putting reminders to install it in my face with an easy to accidentally press button.

I'm a noob and stupidly took the update without checking this board. Would this fix still work?

Tried it, but did not work on my computer. (With a previous update it did but not this time.)

I too made the mistake of updating to the latest version of Yosemite only to discover that Nvidia does not yet have an update for the GPU drivers. Now my monitor blinks periodically and the cursor is jumpy and the system is slow.

So I have two dumb questions:

1) What is the easiest way to temporarily turn off the GPU (other than physically yanking it out)?

2) What is the best way next time to check that Nvidia has the drivers for an OS update so I don't make this stupid mistake again?

thanks

Not experiencing the other two things but the jumpy cursor is bugging the crap out of me.

I too updated to 2015-006 and Graphics not working jumping. I also removed the nvida drivers. Tried to install them says not compatable what can i do thanks.

Thank you for pointing out the solution list!

I used Solution #4 and it worked (Change the required OS). It required two reboots - first reboot froze, second I'm back up and running.
