5. System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext Verification

  1. AppleHDA.kext can be the same as or earlier than the installed OS X version
  2. AppleHDA.kext does not work if newer than the installed OS X version
  3. Verify AppleHDA.kext version and codec name
    1. ALC885
    2. ALC887
    3. ALC888
    4. ALC889
    5. ALC892
    6. ALC898
    7. ALC1150
How do I verify? There is an AppleHDA.kext file in the expected location but I don't see how I can verify the version and codec name, or if it's native.

I am running 10.10.4 with Multibeast 7.4.0 which should be compatible under "1. Yosemite/MultiBeast 7.0 and newer" of this guide: http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/143757-audio-realtek-alc-applehda-guide.html#post886744

If codec is native, go to 4. Audio Codec Verification, above.

1. I just updated to 10.10.5 and now I have no audio. Sound worked before the update with clover. No devices in the sound control panel but system report shows various outputs. I tried installing the audio_cloverALC-110_v1.0d.command but did not work.

2. 10.10.5, GA-Z97X-UD5H, F9, i7 4790K, Intel HD 4600.

Edit: please disregard, I left my computer off overnight and when I turned it on today, the sound is working again? I had shut down and rebooted several times while troubleshooting but for some reason it's working now...

Audio - Realtek ALC AppleHDA [Guide]

I got my GA-Z77-DS3H (Yosemite) to work by using the Piker-Alpha method.

In case there is anyone else out there as thick as me, to get the script to actually run, do this...

in Terminal type bash and then drag the script from your Download folder onto the terminal window. Simple when you know how!

Thanks again to this GREAT community!

Alright so I'm trying to fix my audio on my Acer Aspire V5, but I'm not quite sure what kind of audio I have, could someone please tell me?

It says Intel HD Audio but I haven't heard of anyone else that has this audio.

Also, Rehab Man said this,
Note: Many laptops use audio chips that have EAPD. If yours does (check your codec dump from Linux), you'll need CodecCommander: https://github.com/RehabMan/EAPD-Codec-Commander
Is my audio EAPD?

I appreciate all of the help, thanks!

Hi,

I can't get audio working on my Gigabyte H97N-WIFI.
I selected ALC892 in Multibeast.
