How do I verify? There is an AppleHDA.kext file in the expected location but I don't see how I can verify the version and codec name, or if it's native.5. System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext Verification
- AppleHDA.kext can be the same as or earlier than the installed OS X version
- AppleHDA.kext does not work if newer than the installed OS X version
- Verify AppleHDA.kext version and codec name
- ALC885
- ALC887
- ALC888
- ALC889
- ALC892
- ALC898
- ALC1150
I am running 10.10.4 with Multibeast 7.4.0 which should be compatible under "1. Yosemite/MultiBeast 7.0 and newer" of this guide: http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/143757-audio-realtek-alc-applehda-guide.html#post886744

Leads back to post #949If codec is native, go to 4. Audio Codec Verification, above.
Leads to no codec; no codec, not sound.Leads back to post #949
Is my audio EAPD?Note: Many laptops use audio chips that have EAPD. If yours does (check your codec dump from Linux), you'll need CodecCommander: https://github.com/RehabMan/EAPD-Codec-Commander
Controller not codec.I'm not quite sure what kind of audio I have, could someone please tell me?
