AR9280 ATHR: Unknown locale: xx - EEPROM Mod

Status
Not open for further replies.
No sorry, I set it to 0x37. Under OSX 1.6.8, its written: Locale ETSI, Countrycode: DE

But you wrote in another thread that your airport worked on mavericks even without correct locale.... The problem seems to be that the device appears disabled..

Make sure the device is powered up. You may have to tape pin 20.

Thanks a lot for the pin 20 hint! I will try this soon...

EDIT!

AAARG! HOW STUPID CAN ONE BE.... LOL. I once disabled all airport launchdaemons and completely forgot this!! Oh man! ** going bright red with shame ** These LaunchDaemons of course are required for an Airport device.

Note what I wrote in post #91...

... Do a fresh install if needed.

Hi guys....I followed the thread very carefully but I get error 39 installing the comviewWifi driver...any idea??.

I get no other errors, just controller missed or damage (error 39).

Used F8 and also used: bcdedit /set nointegritychecks ON

HI Rehabman,

thanks I will give a try with Linux. Really I don't know if fixing LOCALE will solve my problem...The half card AR9380 is working OOB but not detecting networks....I didn't find any possible solution for this in forums.

I share my files for any idea welcome, I have also idea to change in EEPROM:

SubsystemID 1627 Subvendor ID 103c (Wifi AR9380/HB112) Half card

BY

SubsystemID 009a Subvendor ID 106B (airport extreme full size AR9380)

I imagine only can be this the difference between half 9380 and full 9380.

Not sure this rebranding guide works for AR9380... you may need tweaks to it.

I guess you'll find out.

Seems like it is likely the card is not turned on. Did you try using the WiFi button on your laptop?

Sure I verified the wifi laptop button. The wifi half card has 3 connectors and I was lucky I have 3 cables to connect. Verified in windows 7 is working even better (detect more networks) than stock old one Intel N6205.

Also I used the next commands to be sure card is well activated:

networksetup -listnetworkserviceorder

I see en2 is my built-in interface.

I type the following command to activate the card:

networksetup -setairportpower en2 on

Still giving Tx Iq Cal failed (4193). May be this error can be fixed in Linux??.

Really above issue is a challenge for me but out of my understanding.

Thanks in any case.

OS X will not be aware when the radio is off due to external hardware. Macs don't have external power controls for the radio.

Press the WiFi button and be patient. The LED does not reflect the true state and the system will not respond immediately.

Thanks Rehabman,

I will test your suggestion, but I think the problem more serious than this. I attach my DMESG, I see something wrong with IO80211Controller......and performCountryCodeOperation: Not connected, scan in progress 0 en2: channel changed to 1.

If you are so kind to have a look to my file may be you understand what is failing so I see also:

AirPort: Link Down on en2. Reason 8 (Disassociated because station leaving).

Regards.
