[Guide] Lenovo Y50 (UHD or 1080p) using Clover UEFI

It was active
Code:
KernelLapic=true
Maybe I cancel it?

It may be required. But having it enabled when not needing it does no harm.

I should test pstates with DPCIManager-> PStates
And I get an error
I have attached a picture

It is normal. Just continue.

How do I run legacy boot in clover configuration?

config.plist/GUI/Scan/Legacy=true (and other values).

See Clover wiki: http://clover-wiki.zetam.org/Configuration

I recommend installing Windows in UEFI mode.

Yeah that fixed it so it's all fine now. I haven't removed voodoo yet. I'm trying to figure out how to install the appleHDA to work with my system. you have any guides for that? I found one but it said I need to find my device id amongst other things :')

If you follow the guide in post #1, AppleHDA works. Make sure you remove VoodooHDA and have vanilla AppleHDA installed.

Don't forget to repair permissions, rebuild cache, etc as documented in post #1.

I have removed Voodoo, and when I check the extensions folder I have AppleHDA_ALC283, this correct?

You should also have AppleHDA.kext. It is installed by the Yosemite installer.

When I search for that filename it comes up as being in a folder called backup extensions. I assume I can just copy and paste it back here? perform the repair/rebuild? which steps in the guide do I perform after doing this to make it work? as there are a lot of them

I can't tell you what exactly to do because you've not followed the guide. Therefore I have no idea what you did to your AppleHDA.kext.

If you're not sure how your AppleHDA.kext got damaged, run the Yosemite installer again. It will restore all your kexts to vanilla (as is correct). No need to erase the partition, just run it over top of of what you already have.

Once you restore vanilla AppleHDA, it should work, provided you follow the instructions for repair permissions, boot without caches, rebuild cache, etc. as documented in "Known problems"/Audio.

After we get a few with the AppleHDA working, we can look at individual issues that may exist. Perhaps there are ways in which your ALC283 differs from my Lenovo u430. When we get to that point, please provide an audio codec dump from Linux.

I dont know how to mod. my bios or how the schell works.

As stated in post #1, you have two choices:
- flash a patched BIOS (patched BIOS must be requested from bios-mods.com)
- use UEFI shell to set the variable.

Personally, I would use the UEFI shell as it is not as dangerous as flashing a patched BIOS.

There is information/links in the FAQ: http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-...faq-read-first-laptop-frequent-questions.html

Read at the links for the two questions:
Q. Is Intel Broadwell graphics supported?
Q. Are QHD+/UHD laptop displays supported?

Note: You do not need to do this if you have the 1080p display. The requirement for DVMT modification is only for QHD displays.

Your profile does not indicate your screen resolution. Please fix it.

Hi everyone,

I don't have any problems, I just wanted to thank you RehabMan, for your awesome and appreciated work.

Thanks to this guide I managed to install Yosemite on my Y50 within a few hours of work, (With my previous XPS13 it took me almost a week...).

Everything is working fine, even iMessage ! For now my trackpad (I have an ELAN) is not recognized, so I don't have multi-touch gestures, but I think I just have to install some additional kexts to get it work.

When you switch over to the ELAN PS2 driver, make sure you remove VoodooPS2Controller.kext.

Also, please update your profile with laptop details (notably missing is screen resolution)...

Please provide complete details in your profile/signature
(Profile/Settings link in upper right corner of this site)

System: manufacturer/model + bootloader(Clover/Chameleon/Chimera)
CPU: detailed CPU model + motherboard chipset
Graphics: all graphics devices + laptop internal screen resolution

For example, typical Ivy laptop:
System: HP ProBook 4540s (Clover)
CPU: i5-3320m/HM76
Graphics: HD4000, 1366x768

Use CPU-Z on Windows to find CPU (Core iX-xxx) and motherboard chipset (HMxx), and graphics capabilities. For a laptop, these details are important and affect critical installation procedures.
