Hello,

i hope someone can help me with a little Problem. First of all this is my Rig:

ASUS Z9PE-D8 WS
2x Intel E5-2696V2
2x 32GB ECC REG RAM
GeForce GTX 980ti connected via Displayport

BIOS:
CSM always
Boot: UEFI and Legacy
VIDEO: Legacy

I installed El Capitan 10.11.3 without any problems. Using Clover in UEFI Mode. There are some Problems with recognizing some hardware but this should be the smaller prob. At the moment i stuck on getting a working GTX980ti. I did boot with nv_disable=1 and installed the NVIDIA webdriver. All was fine. At startup i start the webdriver with the bootarg nvda_drv=1. At the verbose Screen i did see the message that the NV Kext is loading successfull. But at the moment i should see the Desktop my monitor says "Power Saving".

As Systemdefinition i use MacPro3,1. (I still tried iMac etc). I know there are some Problems with getting a working GTX 980ti and using systemdefinition like MacPro 6,1. But, its always the same... i get a "power Saving Message" from my monitor and a black screen. I did test another Display and tried different cables and connections (HDMI, Displayport, DVI) nothing is working.

At the moment iam using following boot args:
dart=0
npci=0x3000 (without this i stuck on PCI Configuration begin)
nvda_drv=1 (to use the nv webdriver)
-v (to see the verbose screen)

I would be happy if someone could help me. All post that i found related to this problem did not help.

Somebody who can help?

This has been posted lots of times previously.

Fix: modify the AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy.kext

  1. Using Finder locate this file /System/Library/Extensions/AppleGraphicsControl.kext
  2. Copy the file to another location for editing.
  3. Right click and "Show Package Contents"
  4. Now browse to /Contents/PlugIns/AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy.kext
  5. Right click and "Show Package Contents"
  6. Browse to /Contents/
  7. Open Info.plist using TextEdit
  8. Scroll down to where you see <key>ConfigMap</key>
  9. For the MacPro6,1 locate the board-id "Mac-F60DEB81FF30ACF6"and change string below it from "Config2" to "none"
  10. Save the file.
  11. Delete /System/Library/Extensions/AppleGraphicsControl.kext
  12. Load modified AppleGraphicsControl.kext using your kextloader
  13. Rebuild the kernel cache using the following two commands in terminal:

    sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel
    sudo kextcache -system-caches

  14. Reboot

No, that does/did not fix the problem. Like i said, i had tested MacPro3,1 as systemdefinition. But i tried the AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy.kext way too.... it didnt help. ;)

I have read the post with modifying the AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy.kext and did also test it. Didnt work. :(

None of Graphics is checked for injecting. (AMD, Intel, Nvidia)
Ian out of Ideas... i don't get my GTX 980ti working with QE, FullResolution or any Acceleration. Not with native OSX driver neither webdriver.

TECH_ATTACK,

What bios version do you use?
Did you mod it?
Can you post your EFI folder from installation usb drive?

I'm on 5601 modded, e5-2609v2 and gtx970 atm (waiting for my upgrade parts) and can't pass further Missing Bluetooth Controller Transport.
I've made usb with Unibeast in UEFI mode and set next boot args: dart=0, npci=0x2000, nv_disable=1. No more changes but no luck.

Managed to install OS with radeon 5770 - same solution as for 10.10 installation.
All is ok except audio (but it's normal situation for this m/b).

Thx to tang88 for solution with gtx970.

So what did you to get you GTX 970 Working?

I Use the newest Bios, not modded. I use npci=0x3000 PCIRootUID=1 nvda_drv=1.
As far as i know the npci=0x3000 is a must for El Capitan.

I just update to 10.11.4 but my GTX 980ti is still not working with webdriver.
Which PCIe Slot do you use for your GTX 970 and which Bios Settings?

Thanks in advance

Greets
