hello everyone,

I am new to hacktintosh. I was planned to buy a Z490 vision D and 10700K to build a hacktinosh, but the I cannot find any Z490 VISION D available. So I chose Z590 Vision D which is on sell at ebay. I planned to get a 6600xt GPU, but it is too difficult or the price is too high. And 11th's iGPU is not supported. I am not a gamer, just need this to connect one 4k monitor+ one 1080p monitor or two 4k monitor.

So my first question is can I just use i7-10700k's iGPU with Z590 vision D without DGPU?
Second, according to gigabyte's website:

10th Generation Intel® Core™ i9/i7 processors:
Support for DDR4 2933/2666/2400/2133 MHz memory modules

But currently, I already bought: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 64GB (2x32GB) DDR4 3200 (PC4-25600) C16 Desktop memory–Black (CMW64GX4M2E3200C16). Is this compatibal? or can use this ram with 2933 MHZ?

Hi there.

To answer your questions:

1) Not fully, no. The Z590 with a 10th gen iGPU will only give un-accelerated output at best. You can use the iGPU "headless" for rendering intensive projects, just not display unfortunately. Best to use a DGPU. A Z490 would have worked perfectly.

2) Yes, your memory will be fine, it just won't go to the higher speeds without pushing. I use 3200GHz in my current build with an i5. By default the BIOS will run it at 2133GHz. You can nudge this up to 2933. Above that is overclocking and might work. Or not.

oops, my bad, forgot about the Z590 issues! :)

Thanks for your help!

I have additional two questions:

1. Best to use a DGPU, I knew 6600xt is supported, does 6600 works now, do we need to take a lot of steps to make 6600 work?
2. what issues Z590 have? (I knew hot plug thunderbolt issue)

other previous AMD cards can work, I use AMD RX570 for example that works good

(1) The RX 6600 XT / RX 6600 will be supported on the upcoming MacOS Monterey 12.1. They are NOT supported on the current MacOS Monterey 12.0.1 and older MacOS versions.

(2) The main problem with Z590 is what UtterDisbelief mentions : Even if you use a supported 10th generation Intel CPU, you cannot use its CPU integrated graphics with graphics acceleration with a Z590 motherboard. Using a dedicated supported graphics card avoids the problem. This means that building a hackintosh with 500 series motherboards is not feasible if you don't have a supported graphics card.

Thanks all for your reply. Just found that our local microcenter has rx 6600 for $429 which is that I can accept, so I am going to get the 11700K and 6600 GPU.
