I just want to report that I upgraded to 10.7.4 successfully. My geekbench marks are the same, so thankfully the N53SV-DH72 is not affected by the issue reported here:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=170&t=59889.
I upgraded from the normal software update. Upon booting I got a kernel panic related to the "AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext" (if I remember the name correctly). So I had to use my usb installation stick to boot into the system with -s. I then removed the kext from s/l/e and rebooted. (For more instructions on how to do this watch:
http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2012/01/hackintosh-basics-kernel-panics-boot.html the second video the one about boot flags, from min 7 - 10 exactly)
After rebooting, wifi and battery were broken. So I used kext wizard to re-install the kexts (as mentioned in my previous post here:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?p=320375#p320375 and of course fixed permissions and caches, rebooting got everything back to normal. So that was pretty neat.
Finally, even though audio was working initially, I just happened to get crackling when I was playing a video on youtube, so I reinstalled the audio kext as well (
http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?p=321680#p321680). So you might feel you need to do that or not. (Crackling is less now, but still there I think, or maybe its just me).
Hope this encourages people to upgrade, but I'm not to be held accountable, as tonymacx86 says, backup first. This was my own experience.
