NVME on a Hackintosh

Disable core storage, then use CCC.

As far as I know corestorage is involved in creating fusion drives etc.
But I don't use that, so I have no idea what to disable..

I just did a fresh install with Unibeast (I just added the NVMeGeneric.kext driver added to the EFI partition) on my new Samsung SM951 NVMe drive.

The 950 Pro is a retail drive, so it has a better warranty and support. The SM951 is intended for OEMs, so the warranty is whatever the seller offers. And it doesn't come with drivers and such in the packaging. Go with this option if the seller offers a decent warranty, you consider yourself a "techie" who doesn't need much help, and you want to save money.

The performance of the two is very, very similar.

edited to add: although I just realized, you linked to the PM951. Apparently this is the TLC version of SM951. You could make an argument that switching the NAND chips to TLC is going to make it somewhat slower, although I think supposedly Samsung has the most advanced TLC. The model you link to is, I believe, the first 3D v-NAND based TLC flash.

Weird problem here: I can boot from NVME (Samsung 950 Pro) but not if Thunderbolt card is installed. any ideas? switching Thunderbolt into different PCI-E slots hasn't been helping.

At what point does the boot fail? Does adding the thunderbolt adapter even prevent a different OS from booting off NVME?

i notice that all use samsung 950 m.2

should i try more to install os x to current NVMe M.2
because its not show up in Disk Utility.

i tried to use NVMe driver but no change happen.

Added. Patches are the same as before (kext binary is likely unchanged), md5 sums different.
