iTunes Protected Video Black Screen Solution (HDCP)

It took about 4 attempts, but adding Shiki.kext and iMac.kext to /EFI/EFI/Clover/kexts/Other, and running all the terminal commands (and re-running defaults write com.apple.AppleGVA forceNV -boolean yes, because to do that first only to void it by deleting com.apple.AppleGVA seemed a bit counterintuitive) works. I've tested it with streaming from Apple and my remote iTunes library, and all is good. Thanks, all!

Sandy bridge can play DRM Protected content in iTunes with onboard iGPU and dedicated Graphics. My Sandy build has iGPU enabled and my 6870 enabled I can play DRM Protected content perfectly fine.

I had been asking if you were able to do this without the need for the terminal commands and kext. More simply, you're saying the Sandy Bridge hardware and GPU can do this natively without the need for the fix offered by the OP?

After some testing I come to this conclusion. While trailers do work, they seem to be in SD instead of HD.

I think this was covered elsewhere, but make sure iTunes preferred 1080 HD content for video playback. On my old chimera/chameleon build the workaround was to play back content in SD. The newer Clover boot that I have cost me the SD playback initially, which is now back thanks to the fix, but I had to go back into iTunes to make sure the HD content was the default.

I was kind of wondering the same thing about the delete commands.

Yes, I agree. Why write and then delete? And I could be completely wrong here, but to reset DRM all I needed to do was "De-Authorize" the computer via iTunes menu, add the kexts and reboot, then re-authorize. As I said in my last post I decided not to do this again with Terminal.

I'm really greatful to everyone here for their help, I now have working DRM playback, but just blindly adding kexts and resetting vital account info without knowing in depth what they are doing, makes me nervous ...

(By the way, the iMac.kext is just a bundled-up plist and can be easily read with textedit. You can see what it is doing :) )

Hate to admit it but here I am standing battered bruised and defeated (sucker for the dramatics) Screen Shot 2016-07-24 at 09.49.42.png , I have tried with the discrete card and with just the Intel, following the instructions as written also the alternatives done by others that got this to work but each time after reboots and fingers crossed my efforts ends in despair. I swear getting iMsg/F-Time to work is a walk in the park compared to this, I included a pic of the 'Terminal' results maybe someone can see what the hell I'm doing wrong or am I doomed to the Windozed side of things.

I had the same. But it still worked.

And @VioletDragon ...
Yes that seems like the correct output. The faq does warn you might not get a result for each command, however, as you can see, first you modify something, then you delete it. Baffles me too as to why.

I wonder if the iMac.kext/plist needs modifying to cover your ATI graphics...
