On the 4th of July my macbook air got some horizontal lines about mid screen. First a few, then more and more. Now there no recognizable viewable area. However, I connected an external cable. I could see that itunes and safari were running from the deck. When selected, I could not see them on the monitor. I could only select and see the background for OS X and the Deck background. Question? Is my LED-LCD dead. Do I have a loose cable? The macbook is only 8 months old. I'm going to apple store soon. I don't want to open it until they say "yeah, we'll fix it for $$$.$$" Any thoughts?

8 months old? It should be under warranty and Apple should fix it for free. I would take it back ASAP!

Well. I went to the Apple Store today. They said it needs a new LED-LCD and that it's covered under the warranty. It'll take about 3 days. COOL, I'll be back in business.
