Hey guys - I'm having some problems with my build. It's been stable for over a year, recently updated to 10.6.8 which went fine apart from losing the audio. Yesterday i opened up the computer to remove an Asus Xonar DX that was no longer needed - however when i now try to boot into OSX it just hangs at the PCI configuration begin stage.

I would be most grateful of any help or advice as i really miss using my mac : (

Hey - just tried with the xonar back in but it still stalls at the same place.

can you get in with iboot?

if so, add npci=0x2000 to the kernel flags in the com.apple.boot.plist

I'll go grab a CD and try with iboot. I am not very experienced with such things however so would you mind telling me how to add to the kernel flag and where to find it? (Sorry to be a pain)

load iboot, and if you can get into SL with it,
go to the /extra folder, find the com.apple.boot.plist and add npci=0x2000 under kernel flags like so:

<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>npci=0x2000</string>

if you get the pci config error with iboot, let us know

Just tried with iboot and had the same problem.

when iboot loads, type -npci=0x2000

At what point would i type this? At the bootpick screen?

yeh.
just type it, make sure your SL partition is selected, then press enter
