  • Dual Boot: Mountain Lion 10.8.1 / Windows 7 x64
  • 128gb SSD Configuration: 128gb split to "2 partitions" - one for MT (HFS+) and other for Win 7 (NTFS) (note: partitioned via Disk Utility, which adds 1 may 2 small partitions for boot loaders, for a total of 4 partitions on your SSD
  • 1TB HDD Configuration: 500gb HFS+ for mac user data (configured via Advanced configuration in System utilities -> Users -> select user and right click Advanced), and 500gb NTFS for windows user data (program files, documents / videos, etc
  • Unibeast MT 1.5.3 , Multibeast MT 5.0.2
  • Only use USB 2.0 ports for your Unibeast usb install stick. (i.e. the 2 ports by the old school keyboard plug)
  • Originally installed on GA-Z77-DS3H, bio v.F5. No issues. Eventually upgraded to v.F8 via Q-Flash. Again, no issues. Running fine now.
  • My install order (which you can/should stray away from)
    1. Make sure GA-Z77-D3SH has the right BIOS settings => AHCI for ssd/hdd, and the boot drives are set to SSD not HDD
    2. Mountain Lion + a (bad multibeast configuration): used it to partition drives. But ran into a lot of Chimera issues (since I was a n00b) and therefore had problems...
    3. Win 7 x64 - smooth install. (Make sure you disable boot off of the 1TB HDD in the BIOS, otherwise may be problematic in win 7 install.) Needed to install all drivers, including WiFi. Had to find a spare usb stick and download WiFi drivers from a diff. machine. Win 7 seemed to have wiped out the original Chimera.
    4. And then went back and reinstalled Mountain Lion + Multibeast again - this time with the right MultiBeast settings. Chimera replaced the windows 7 boot, so now everything's a go.

Unfortunately, I have yet to get this motherboard working with MacOS. I have the GA-Z77-DS3H, but I have a i7-3770 instead of the i5. Not sure how much of a difference the CPU makes. I have a Nvidia 650-ti which seems to be ok during the unibeast install screen. However, when I select the USB on the unibeast install selection screen I get a kernel Panic. I set the SATA to AHCI in the BIOS. When I got the motherboard, it had BIOS v9 which didn't work, so I flashed it to v10f which didn't work either. Does anybody have any ideas of what to try? Could it be the CPU, maybe i5 would work? Is it the BIOS version, problems with v9 and v10?

Try removing your video card and installing with the i7 as your video source. That i7 should have HD4000.

yep, sure enough, I took the nVidia GTX 650 out and used the internal video and it installed. However, the sound doesn't seem to work. This board apparently has a Realtek AC887. I played around adding a few things in with Multibeast, but then it wouldn't boot. So I had to erase the partition and re-install Mtn Lion. Anybody know how to get the sound working?

I tried to install "UserDSDT or DSDT-Free Installation", but then system won't boot.

That is the only problem left with my Hackintosh. Not a big deal but it would be nice if it worked. Do you have the option in your BIOS to disable CPU PLL Overvoltage?

Please provide your complete build component list including kb, mouse and display (and connection type). TIA.

I recommend you don't use the F10f BIOS as it is a Beta BIOS. So, flash back to version F9 so we can eliminate that as a possible cause.

Finally, we shouldn't hijack drachma's build description thread. So, if we can't solve your problem soon in the next couple of posts, I may move this post series to Mountain Lion Desktop Support forum section to get more eyes on your problem(s).
