Comments

After the troubles with getting GT210 HDMI audio, then having artifacts when I tried HD3000 HDMI audio, I went ahead and "upgraded" to GT430 board as it was compatible out of the box in Lion (GE=yes) and HDMI audio worked with User DSDT edits and the patched ALC889 kext only. Since I set out to build a Hackintosh HTPC, I felt that both on-board and HDMI audio was essential. Note that all hardware (except Apple IR Receiver, which was not tested) works OOB for Ubuntu 12.04, only needing the propriety NVIDIA driver loaded for better graphics capabilities. HDMI audio was present from the start in Ubuntu.

Went with the stock cooler because the case has a large (120mm) fan up in front. I went with that case for the fact that it has a 450W Bronze 80 rated power supply stock.

I was able to get my drive icons silver by making some edits to the DSDT. I understand this changes the way that OSX sees the drives, but since my machine doesn't have the capability to hot-swap drives, I don't really care. I was almost tempted to just change drive icons, but I was back in the DSDT for sleep edits, which I am still working on.

More comments soon...

For the orange icons, install IOACHIBlockStorageInjector.kext from Multibeast.

I get rid of my orange icons by selecting the "3rdParty SATA" and "3rdParty eSATA." However, next time, I'll try the IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.

I am making DSDT edits... Got rid of them by modifying the SATA section.

I had this done before in the DSDT I edited from scratch based on MacMan's blog and wolf359's P55 edits.

They are back to normal now, no kexts.

I prefer the DSDT fix, because none of my drives are hot-swappable in this build. I really don't care how they show up in profiler. I was tempted to just change the icons.

I will update my build post above when I am done with edits.

Noob help with this build multibeats settings

Ok so i have my parts ordered for a similar build

Gigabyte GA-H61N-USB3 (same board)
MI-008 Tower Black P4 Chassis with 250W Itx Psu+sata Power Supply (its a smaller case with 250w) same as original customac mini
Intel Core I3-2105
IOGEAR USB 2.1 Bluetooth Micro Adapter
3.5" HDD
CD/DVD drive
8gb ram

I want to add a graphics card to the build and i see your gt430, it's cheap and nice. But will it fit in this case and will the the 250W be enough to power this system.

I plan to strait install lion on it, unibeast and i want to upgrade to mountain lion. I just want to know the multibeast settings for 10.7.X and 10.8, and if this graphics card will be good?

Thankyou :))

i'm assuming you have qe/ci? any idea if the gigabyte gt430 might work too?

Hi david, i have nerly same build as you
H61N USB3 + GT 430

i installed Mountain Lion with unibeast + multibeast method, and everything just work perfectly (QE/CI, audio, restart, etc) except for sleep. i can't make it wake from sleep either from the clicking mouse, hit the keyboard or switch the power button. so i have to power down my machine everytime it goes to sleep and turn it back on. i wonder if you have already solve the sleep problem you have, can yo u share it to me?

sorry for my english,

Hey
your Build seems very nice. Can say anything about the noise of the gpu cooler? I am searching for some graphics card that isn't too loud
