Comments:
This build was to replace an original Mac Pro that I sold, so I wanted to duplicate it's capabilities as close as possible.

The Samsung DVD driver keeps checking for a disc so automatic sleep doesn't work. But I like have dual drives for copying discs using Toast.

The Kingwin hot swap racks are great. I have numerous drives for varios OSes so I like the ability to add and remove drives without opening the case.

When looking for a case I wanted as many 5 1/4" bays to support 2 DVD burners and the 4 hot swap racks along with front panel Firewire without breaking the bank so I went with this Cooler Master.

The ASUS USB-BT21 USB 2.0 Mini Bluetooth Dongle was automatically identified by OS X, so I can use the System Preferences pane for Bluetooth.

How do the hot-swap drive bays work? What for?

The hot swap bays I use are tray less and have a key lock to prevent removal. They are very easy to use. Pop the latch and the drive partially slides out. Makes it easy to grab and insert a new disk. For the new disk push it partially in and close the door. It's that easy.

I use them to move disks between multiple systems and for swapping OSes. It also makes it easy to test installations and MultiBeast. I can also easily disconnect drives to ensure that they don't accidental get accessed or overwritten.

Ok. I guess it is the most needed innovation in the world of Windows and OS X for repair folks.

Re: MacMan Build GA-P55-UD5

Hot-Swap is the way to go... for anyone who has ever had more than one external hard-drive and forgot/lost/burned-out one of the endless power supplies (which come in 25 different sizes/colours) or lost the extension cable... or had the external case fall off the desk and break both toe and hard-drive! :banghead:

As an added note: most of the real Macs I have known never had nor could handle hot-swap like Hacktinosh could. Another song-of-praise to the world of Hackintosh!

Does it mean that its checking all the time? It sounds pretty annoying :banghead:

It checked the drive for a disc every 30 seconds, the way you could tell is the access light would go on. It didn't bother me. :D

Hi Macman,

I m trying to install Mac os 10.6.3 on my PC. I have try it with iboot ( last version) didnt works for me, After copying things, I ve been asking to reboot.

Do you have a different graphics card to use? I have this 4850, http://www1.sapphiretech.com/us/product ... p?gpid=249 and we call it the ATI From Hell. We have tried everything and we cannot get it working with OS X.
