This is my first Hackintosh build, I already own a 27inch iMac, iPhone, iPad and MacBook Air. But having recently built a PC for recording TV using MediaPortal, I decided to give a hack a go. I will be booting into OS X, Windows and Linux, (currently only setup for OS X)
I followed most of the CustoMac Pro build, but decided (possibly foolishly) that I would risk going for the Z97 motherboard over the Z87.
I followed all installation instructions to the letter, disabled Thunderbolt in Bios (although OS X loads with it enabled, just much slower), set XMP Memory profile to profile 1, set to optimized defaults and disabled VT-d
I initially had to boot using PCIRootUID=0 , npci=0x3000, -x, -v
The install went fine, other than flickering graphics, so I found the thread:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/...phics-acceleration-9-series-motherboards.html
(I used KextBeast to install AppleIntelFramebufferAzul.kext)
Confirmation of issues some people may have had:
iMessage is not working
I'm working through this page to try to resolve
http://www.tonymacx86.com/general-help/110471-how-fix-imessage.html
(my WIFI did not have a tick in the @builtin@ box, added the string into the plist which has updated the tick but iMessage is still not working....
I can access the internet via wireless or Ethernet cable
Sleep works as does wake from sleep
FaceTime works (the built in Dell monitor microphone and webcam appears to be working)
Audio did not work through my Sony TV, however works great through the Dell monitor
I'm currently just using an old Dell wired keyboard and mouse but will be switching to Bluetooth in the future.
Huge thanks to this forum, which I spent days searching before making any purchases.
These are the options I used with MultiBeast:
And this is the result when I used the free Geekbench version (only tests based on 32bit):
Edit:
28/6/14: Added the BD-RW Drive and another 16Gb Ram today, so now up to 24 GB Ram and geek bench score has increased to 15085
