This is my first Hackintosh build, I already own a 27inch iMac, iPhone, iPad and MacBook Air. But having recently built a PC for recording TV using MediaPortal, I decided to give a hack a go. I will be booting into OS X, Windows and Linux, (currently only setup for OS X)

I followed most of the CustoMac Pro build, but decided (possibly foolishly) that I would risk going for the Z97 motherboard over the Z87.

I followed all installation instructions to the letter, disabled Thunderbolt in Bios (although OS X loads with it enabled, just much slower), set XMP Memory profile to profile 1, set to optimized defaults and disabled VT-d

I initially had to boot using PCIRootUID=0 , npci=0x3000, -x, -v

The install went fine, other than flickering graphics, so I found the thread:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/...phics-acceleration-9-series-motherboards.html

(I used KextBeast to install AppleIntelFramebufferAzul.kext)

Confirmation of issues some people may have had:
iMessage is not working
I'm working through this page to try to resolve
http://www.tonymacx86.com/general-help/110471-how-fix-imessage.html
(my WIFI did not have a tick in the @builtin@ box, added the string into the plist which has updated the tick but iMessage is still not working....

I can access the internet via wireless or Ethernet cable
Sleep works as does wake from sleep
FaceTime works (the built in Dell monitor microphone and webcam appears to be working)
Audio did not work through my Sony TV, however works great through the Dell monitor

I'm currently just using an old Dell wired keyboard and mouse but will be switching to Bluetooth in the future.

Huge thanks to this forum, which I spent days searching before making any purchases.

These are the options I used with MultiBeast:

And this is the result when I used the free Geekbench version (only tests based on 32bit):

Edit:
28/6/14: Added the BD-RW Drive and another 16Gb Ram today, so now up to 24 GB Ram and geek bench score has increased to 15085

Currently trying to run Mavericks with this Mainboard.
Current Config:
mobo: GA-Z97X-UD7 TH (rev. 1.0)
CPU: Core i7 4771
GPU: Asus GTX 760
Ram: 16GB (8x2 1866mhz)
HDD: 1TB 7200RPM

Went fine thru installation with UniBeast, no boot flags required, just slow boot...
Boot went normal with no boot flags required, slow boot, again.
Installed Multibeast with the settings on this thread

Now it wont boot, tried -v boot flag and nothing just a black screen. BTW I'm using the HDMI port of the GPU.
Thanks!

PD: Sorry for my English.

I have a similar spec, and am ALMOST there. A few things aren't working yet however.

1 - Thunderbolt. When I view Thunderbolt in System Report, it shows that "No drivers are loaded". I haven't tried inserting a Thunderbolt device yet however. I have seen some hints that says I must get Windows installed, and Thunderbolt enabled, before OSX will work? That sounds strange, so haven't gone their yet.

2 - My onboard NIC will not obtain and IP from DHCP. The link status is detected in OSX network prefpane, but no IP. Assigning a static IP results in a green status in the OSX prefpane, but I cannot ping the default GW from terminal, nor can I ping the NIC from another node on my network. This is the only network interface.

-- UPDATE -- New Intel NIC driver v3.1.0 in Multibeast 6.4 Fixed the above.

3 - I haven't got to audio testing yet, but my only goal would be to get audio output via HDMI of the GTX770 card, which I don't know if its possible.

Other than that, it works great.

Any luck with the sound?

Thank you very much for summing up this information so concisely OP. I have a nearly identical build which I have troubleshooting for a week and it was as simple as the azul text!

Thanks again to this fantastic community!!

Hi,

I am also building an almost similar spec unit.

Z97X-UD7 TH,
4790K,
16GB Corsair Vengance Pro 1866,
LG DVD in SATA 0,
WD 500HD in SATA 1

VT-d is disabled, so are Thunderbots. SATA is AHCI and memory profile is 1.

I built the Mavericks USB stick (My download was 10.9.4) and installed and restarts (albeit slowly) but when I apply the changes you state in Multibeast and then reboot, it panics after FakeSMCKeystore is started.

Any ideas?

I have powered up my graphics card and the panic did not occur.

However, I only got 1024x768 resolution.

I have tried to move my Extras to the EFI partition, but it does not boot directly OR indirectly, even using the Chimera USB - does not get past keychain, though my booting is now in HD (small upside, haha!).

-x, -v does not help.

If anyone has suggestions, they would be most welcome, including how to get back to a "low res but booting" state.

Thanks in advance

Did you choose the 1080p Display mode in Multibeast?

Have you tried using the 'maxmem=4069" or removing RAM to leave just one stick in?

Did these, still stuck, but thanks for the suggestion.

I am reinstalling as this cut is not getting further.

I hear from another place that R9 290 drivers exist. Is this true?

Were you using on board video Intel HD 4600. Did you find a kext
?? 4000 series is built in . If I boot safe mode I can use DVD-D but only get 1024X768 max res
I am also looking for thunderbolt as it shows none in about detailed report. should work with video and storage. I tried legacy in thrunderbolt but still get nothing to work. Id there thunderbolt kext out there? One person deleted all the apple thrunderbolt kext and get faster machine boots but others report no change.
