Hello everyone, I've been reading this forum for a while..

I'd like to hear your point of view on this build :

- Intel® Core™ i7 875K
- OCZ DDR3 2 x 2 GB PC10600 Platinum Edition (x2 8GB total)
- Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD5
- Optiarc AD-7240S - OEM
- XFX Radeon™ HD 5870 1GB, DirectX® 11, ATI Eyefinity

Thanks

Edit :
I'm hesitating between :
- GA-P55A-UD4 (171EUR) or GA-P55A-UD5 (220 EUR)
- Coreâ„¢ i7 870 (290 EUR) or Coreâ„¢ i7 875K (348 EUR)
- Sapphire HD 5850 1GB (280 EUR) or XFX HD 5870 1GB (355 EUR)
- Total 1 : 741 vs Total 2 : 923.. That's 202 EUR diff, does it worth it ?

If you plan on overclocking, I'd at least get PC12800 ram over the PC10600 ram.

Well yes I guess overclocking might be an option later but that's not my priority..

I'm trying to figure out the most sustainable over time build / $$.. And that's quite difficult
On socket 1366, I ended with the following :
- Coreâ„¢ i7 930 (280 EUR)
- GA-X58A-UD3R (217 EUR)
- OCZ DDR3 3 X 2 GB PC12800 GOLD LOW VOLTAGE EDITION (160 EUR)

Edit :
So all of these compared :
P55 : GA-P55A-UD4 (171 EUR) + Coreâ„¢ i7 870 (290 EUR) = 461 EUR
P55 : GA-P55A-UD5 (220 EUR) + Coreâ„¢ i7 875K (348 EUR) = 568 EUR
X58 : GA-X58A-UD3R (217 EUR) + Coreâ„¢ i7 930 (280 EUR) = 497 EUR

P55 : 8 GB Ram dual channel for 198 EUR
X58 : 6 GB Ram triple channel for 160 EUR

What will you actually be doing with the system?

It might be more sustainable, but you are paying now a premium for that X58...

IMO, the only reasons why you'd want the X58 are:
- More than 16GB RAM,
- Insanely priced CPUs (i7-970/980X),
- Faster PCIe.

As you'll be using "just" the i7-930, with "only" 6GB RAM, you might as well go the P55 way instead (with an i7-870 and 8GB RAM) for much less money.

Good Luck !

That rig is for :
- Casual Gaming on win7 (steam, starcraft2, need for speed, etc..)
- Cocoa touch development and photo editing / logo creation on OsX (XCode, photoshop/illustrator...) and If I can stay on osx even for starcraft2 and the upcoming diablo 3.. that would be awesome :)

I currently use an iMac10,1 27" : intel c2duo 3.06 Ghz, 4GB Ram, Radeon HD 4670 256MB Ram..

P55 seems to be the fair choice so far :)
