I'm wanting to use the new 6000 series cards. I've heard that the new cards are in 10.6.5. Can anyone let me know if this will work? Thank you.

Alright! Your hard ware is all good until the GPU. As much as this might work flawlessly it is always recommended that you go with an nvidia. Take a look at my specs as they are almost identical to yours and i installed Snow with no issues. Make sure you use the Custom DSDT for this motherboard which can be downloaded from the DSDT data base. With this DSDT, you will not have to worry about constantly fixing bugs, because it installs everything you need for your hardware. I strongly recomend looking into Nvidia graphics. Glad to Help! ;)

Hmm... I see. So what would be the best nvidia card one could use? I'm looking for a powerful graphics card, nothing midrange. I do a lot of graphics intensive things so my GPU is very important to me.

Personally i recommend something in the 9 series. I think a 9800GTX+ will do you nice. Refer to the GPU data base for a full list of supported GPUs:

I'm happy with the 9800 GTX+ performance, plus the price wasn't bad either
Thats right. With that build you will be able to install Snow with no problem. Just make sure you do everything correctly prior to the installation and make sure you install the 10.6.6 update. ( free from apple )

I think I'll go with a 5870 instead. I know Apple supports the card and I've owned one.

What about this:

Intel Core i5 Processor i5-650 3.20GHz 4MB LGA1156 CPU BX80616I5650

Corsair 4GB Dual Channel Corsair DDR3 Memory for Intel Core i5 Processors (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9)

Gigabyte LGA1156 4DDR3-2200 CrossFireX/GBE/Raid/SATA3/USB3.0/7.1-CH ATX Motherboard GA-P55A-UD3

5870 1 GB (GV-R587OC-1GD)

XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770 1 GB DDR5 HD577XZNFC

What what I need with these parts? As in what files do I need to download to boot with?

Alright this part is surprisingly easy, although if you want to take full advantage of your graphics i strongly recommend the 9800GTX+, But its your choice.
You will need:
-iBoot
-Snow Leopard Retail
-Update 10.6.6
-GA-P55A-UD3 Custom DSDT
-Multibeast

For your graphics: Use Kabyl ATI Chameleon boot in MultiBeast 2.5.1 or above. arch=x86_64 + GraphicsEnabler=Yes. 64-bit works. DVI works. Dual DVI not tested. HDMI not tested. Display Port not tested.

Ok thanks for your help! I realize nvidia might be easier, but I'm the type of person who will never buy nvidia. :p

I'll take the hard way for a card that I think is the better product.
