WiFi on but not seeing networks? (Yes, card is supported)

Guys, the wifi/bt card and or/osx is acting up. 3 days ago I did a clean install of Lion 10.7.4, everything works great. I had to order a supported wifi/bt card which I did (same one everyone else gets) fom ebay:

"593127-001 HP Wireless wifi N Bluetooth BT 3.0+HS half pcie Card Atheros AR5B195"

I installed it and can see the Wifi icon now in the upper right however it's not finding any networks. The wifi button is orange (doesn't do anything if I press it). Also, Bluetooth is not found.

Any help is appreciated. I already ran the 5b8 Installer again and made sure to check off the BT checkbox as well as all the other defaults, rebooted... but that didn't help.

Ok, strange...

I was getting prepared to re-do the whole thing. I did a shut down and restarted, upon boot I got a kernel panic. Turned off/on and it booted now Bluetooth and WiFi is working. Is this normal? Also, should I be concerned about the Kernel Panic or was that normal too. Just don't want the computer buggin' out on me.
