Many 2.5" Sata SSDs cost more than this for a TB of storage.

Amazon has a 6 dollar off coupon, you get the same price as at Newegg. Not sure how long this coupon is good for.

I already have one (secondhand) ,Ryzen 7 3800XT only cost me £85 on eBay. I was looking at buying the newer Ryzen 7 5800X, but even secondhand these were +£145 in the UK. Best New price was £180 from Amazon.

I have 32GB 3600 MHz RAM (£65 new), an RX 5700XT (£150 eBay) to go with the ASUS Rog STRIX X570-F Gaming motherboard (£90 eBay) plus the 2 x WD SN 770 NVMe drives (£89 new). So it should be OK for dual-booting macOS and Windows 11. I’m not sure if the Ryzen 7 3800XT will provide the full PCIe 4.0 speeds for the WD drives but I can always update the CPU at a later date if that is the case.

So with my existing Fractal Design R5 case, semi modular PSU (750W), native Apple WiFi/BT card, Corsair H60 CPU Cooler, etc., I have a new/ish AMD system to play with for a cost of around £480.

When I was looking at these or similar components the CPU (£180), motherboard (£225) and RAM (£65) would have cost nearly as much new as the secondhand components, including the RX 5700 XT.

I am retiring all my Haswell systems, bar one mATX dual booting i7-4770 Hack that I use for DVD/CD ripping. This will be reflected in my signature soon.

Sell!

I have repurposed the Broadwell, Skylake and Kaby Lake systems that were worth keeping, to younger family members who didn't have a computer. Kids loved them not sure my bother and sisters were too happy!

So I have 6 x Haswell motherboards, 3 x CPU's along with a number of old GPU's that will be appearing on eBay. eventually.

Motherbaords:
1 x GA-Z97X-UD5H-BK + orignal box
1 x GA-Z97X-UD5H (won't boot)
1 x GA-Z87MX-D3H + original box
1 x GA-Z87M-HD3 (Boots intermittently)
1 x Asus Z97-K
1 x Asus CS-B (Q87 chipset) (keeping one of these in the mATX case)
All with rear I/O shields

CPUs:
1 x i7-4790K
2 x i5-4440

GPUs:
AMD
1 x RX 470 8GB + original box
2 x HD 7870 2GB (Pitcairn)
1 x HD 7870 2GB (Tahiti LE)
1 x HD 6450 2GB (low profile)
1 x HD 6450 1GB (low profile)
1 x HD 5450 1 GB (low profile)

NVIDIA:
1 x GTX 980 Ti 6GB (not fully functional)
1 x GTX 970 4GB
2 x GTX 780 Ti 3GB (one not fully functional)
1 x GTX 690 4GB (2GB & 2GB for each GTX680)
2 x GTX 660 2GB (GK106 core)
1 x GT 720 2GB
1 x Quadro K4200 4GB
2 x Quadro K600 1 GB (low profile)

Other than the GTX 980 Ti and GTX 780 Ti all of these GPUs are in full working order.

I have GPU-Z screenshots for all of the GPUs, to show they work, or that they are not fully functional but sill boot to an OS (Windows 10).

My wife is looking for me to sell more! She wants as many of my working/current systems gone as I am willing to part with (none). As I will still have 7 x Kaby Lake or newer desktop systems in my office. Plus my 4 x servers, 2 x Apple iMacs, 3 x laptops and a an old Haswell MacBook Pro!

Sounds like a lot of tech moving out and moving on. Once anything tech related gets past that 10 year mark in age, it's generally a good idea to do this. All of it that still functions can run Windows 10 for at least two more years or so. Then there's always Linux or ChromeOS that can be installed.

Trying to do the same for a lot of my old hacks at the 6th/7th gen. Moving on as you said.

Those Haswell systems all ran Windows 11, usually on an old 128/256GB SSD or 256GB NVMe on a PCIe adapter.

The motherboards with NVME connectors were only providing 2 x PCIE lanes, so not much better than the SSD's.
