Are these HDs suitable for GA-X58A-UD3R??

They have SATA 6GB/sec. Is this too high for that mobo?

Thanks

doesn't this motherboard supports USB3 & sata 6GB/s out of the box?
As I can read from the specs the GA-X58A-UD3R has just 2 6GB/sec ports, while the others are 3GB/sec.
Thus I could use 6GB/sec ports for data transfer and 3GB/sec ports for operating system.

The USB 3.0 ports are now usable with the modified LaCie driver in MultiBeast.

The SATA 3 6.0 Gb/s ports will only work at SATA II speeds as there are no drivers for it.

Great hearing from you MacMan
OK, but to keep things simple... ;) Don't forget I'm an architect not a computer technician
Assuming to have 3 SATA HDs, 1 (or 2 ) DVD SATA burner, may they all be hooked to the GA-X58A-UD3R? And what will be the tranfer data rate?
What about the internal 6BG/sec ports? Will I ever be able to use them and how?

Thanks
Michael

p.s. by the way, did you find the large cup of coffee I sent you? ;)

On my GA-X58A-UD3R I have 4 HDs and 2 DVDs connected to the blue Intel ports. Each port runs at 3 Gb/s. If you use the 6 Gb/s ports they will only run at 3 Gb/s. You are better off using the GSATA 3 Gb/s ports if you need 2 more ports.

p.s. Thank you I'm enjoying it ;)

Well, beside the fact that I've already ordered a GA-X58A-UD3R and an i7 950 processor, now I know that I can install 4HDs and 2 DVDs :)
In the next days I'll order also missing components (PSU, RAM, DVD, HD etc.)

About RAM
Do you think that 2 x DDR3 1600Mhz PC12800 6GB Corsair XMS3 CL7 1.65v (3x2B)
[CMX6GX3M3C1600C7] are right?
Thanks
Michael

RAM is good. Make sure you invest in a quality PSU and either Sony or Pioneer DVD drives.
