Upgrading from Mountain Lion to El Capitan Customac Mini

Built a Hackintosh for fun a few years back and I'm wondering if I have to incrementally update Operating systems or if I can jump from Point A to B safely. If anyone can direct me to things I will need to know to attempt this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Gigabyte GA-H77N-WIFI
Intel Core i3-3225
8GB Corsair 1600Mhz DDR3 16GB Corsair 1600Mhz DDR3
TP-Link PCI Express Wifi Adapter

Running 10.8.5 Mountain Lion.


EDIT: Would also update to MAVERICKS if it is more stable.
