Stuck on Apple screen after 10.6.7 update. Please help.

Hey all

I'm getting stuck on the grey Apple screen on startup after I installed the 10.6.7 combo update. Thankfully I backed up my previous system, but I really want to get this to work.

I believe I properly followed the guide here. http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2011/03/ ... pdate.html

I even applied the USB rollback before restart, just in case.

I also ran Easybeast again and system utilities.


Any suggestions on what to do?

Try booting with your iBoot CD, and apply the 10.6.8 Update.

Or if you want to stay on 10.6.7, just try the Bridge Enabled, but it seems as if updating to 10.6.8 is the better solution.

OK, I'll give that a try and report back. I need to stay on 10.6.7 because I work in pro audio, use Pro Tools and so far it's not fully compatible and tested for 10.6.8 yet.

Found it, downloaded it, installed it.

It now goes to the apple screen, gives me a spinning wheel (which it didn't do before) and then kernel panics, telling me I have to shut down my computer.

Try booting with -x -v so you can see where it's getting stuck...

I've actually decided to try out 10.6.8 and give Pro Tools a test. Apparently it's pretty stable. That being said, I installed the 10.6.8 combo update over a 10.6.6 install. I got the same problem. It hangs at the apple screen.

I typed -x -v like you suggested and I'm not sure what I'm looking at.

The last line says [ PCI configuration begin ]

There's nothing after that.

This could mean that you have some kernel extensions that couldnt be loaded.
