I just learned something awesome and thought I'd share.
Wanted to teach some kids how to make stop animation films and learned that doing so with iMovie is a real pain in the ars.
Then I discovered that an old favorite linux application makes the easiest work of said stopmotion. "Avidemux" which is an open source and free Linux app I have been using for years, also runs on OSX.
Just snap your pics, drag them onto avidemux, set your framerate and encode it to mp4.
Then you can drag it into iMovie and add subtitles, transitions, audio...
Enjoy
