Hi everyone,
Here I am with my modded G5, it's a work in progress (almost there). I'm not going to trouble you why I picked this project, I guess we all know why we do it.
Sorry in advance, I never really took a lot of pictures.
First off, I started with the PSU, to take the 'easiest' part first, while I had time too look around in search for parts to fit motherboard and hdd's and stuff like that.
For PSU i bought a second hand Corsair RM750. Taking apart a new one (and potentially screwing it up) would be an expensive risk to take. SO, desoldering the two PCB's (the one with the components PCB and the one of the modulair system). these where connected with aluminium plates.
Next up: creating new cables. Keeping in mind that you need A LOT of cables to replace the aluminium plates. I tried to get the same mass as the aluminium plates to have no interference in conduction.
After this, it was time for the fan. I wanted to keep two 60mm fans like the original PSU, for aesthetic reasons. I made myself a custom PCB that has 4 fan headers. 2 for the front and if that isn't enough in the future, I can put 2 in the back.
This is it for now, I'm already a lot further in the process so more updates will be coming soon.
