Had a devil of a time trying to get HDMI audio working with my GTX 285...video has always worked fine, only problem was sound wasn't being passed properly through the SPDIF connection through the DVI/HDMI connector. Since sound did work in Win7, it's obvious that it's a driver issue for SL.
Finally went back to voodooHDA after playing around with various DSDT/AppleHDA edits with no success.
What ultimately worked was VoodooHDA 0.2.61...the real secret came after going into Audio MIDI setup to reconfigure SPDIF-out (CD) to output 48kHz/2ch-24 bit to my Sony 40' LCD.
It's all working now. I don't even need to bother with a lot of switching back and forth after configuring VLC to default audio output to SPDIF.
Hope this helps someone...
