Hey all,
This is the beginning of whats going to be a very long, difficult yet (hopefully) rewarding journey!
I was looking for a new workstation for work as the one I was currently using (Powermac G5) just wasn't up to the job!
I then had the idea of retrofitting an old apple case and after much deliberation and sniffing around on eBay I found my victim!
After 13 years of use, you can bet your bottom dollar there was a ton of dust in this thing!
This was the display driver for the PowerMac, and this thing is tiny compared to my GTX 770!
The teardown continued until all the parts which could be taken off with a screwdriver were taken off.
The observant among you will notice that I have left the acrylic release mechanism in, and this is purely down to keeping the metal carcass in a neat and orderly fashion while I am not working on it.
The next step is to get all the parts ordered for the Hackintosh (Spec at the end of post) and then to prep all the plastic parts for painting!
The next updates may take a while as work is very busy and will have limited time to work on this project!
SPEC:
i5 4590 - Quad Core - 3.3GHz
Gigabyte GA-H97M-D3H
Crucial Ballistix RAM - x1 8GB (upgrade in future to 16GB)
OCZ ARC 100 240GB SSD
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 750
Silverstone Strider Gold 450W PSU
TP-LINK WDN4800 WiFi
Thanks for reading!
Alex
