If fans are staying on that means the machine isn't sleeping. Most likely haven't patched ACPI or BIOS setting.

How do you patch ACPI? always thought ACPI will be patched correctly as long as you set the closes SMBIOS Mac Model to your specs.

Press F4 at Clover boot, attach Clover folder from EFI removing Themes ZIP attach.

Do you know if there's anything new that can make things work on Z97E-ITX/ac's built-in Wi-Fi chip on 10.12?

I managed to make it work quite some time ago...
I have however switched to something more compatible by now.
