Hi,
I'd like to understand if it's possible to obtain onboard audio + HDMI audio on ASUS P7P55D EVO motherboard (VIA VT1828S audio chipset and ATI HD 5770 as graphics card).
I tried these configurations:

1) VoodooHDA (every version) + HDEF section in DSDT + HDMI section in DSDT --> onboard audio only (no HDMI audio).

2) VoodooHDA (every version) + AppleHDA + HDEF section in DSDT + HDMI section in DSDT --> kernel panic

3) AppleHDA + HDEF section in DSDT + HDMI section in DSDT --> HDMI audio only (I see in Audio (built-in) preferences a device description but no device in Audio devices menù).

I read some topic about this but all of them refer to ALCxxx codec (I haven't found a dedicated kext for my mobo) and I don't understand if it's possible to apply the same approach also for other audio chipset.

Do you have any suggestions?

Hi,
any suggestions?

The VIA VT1828S audio chipset is not native compatible with OS X, therefore in order for us to get sound, we have to use VoodooHDA instead since the ASUS P7P55D motherboards don't use ALCxxx codecs, therefore there is no ALCxxx kext for your motherboard that will work as built-in audio.

Here is a past thread talking a bit about VIA VT1828S.

Unless, someone else can shed some more light on this,
you might be able to do some DSDT edits to make something appear as onboard audio, but in the end it won't work as you'd hope. :?:

Hi beelzebozo,
thank you for the answer!

So, if I understand correctly I can't obtain both onboard audio and HDMI audio on my mobo, I have to choice: onboard audio using VoodooHDA or HDMI audio using only DSDT without VoodooHDA, correct?

thank you!
