NUC7I5BNK Flickering screen using VLC player

Hi all! I've successfully got an intel nuc up and running with Mojave, and everything works great except one thing. I recently downloaded and installed vlc, but videos just won't play on it. They flicker and bring up a flashing screen, though the audio will work. Does anyone have any tips on how to get this to work?

HD 3000 graphics are not supported in Mojave.
