On the latest customacs here http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2011/02/ ... d-lga.html

I bought the third setup but am waiting on the mobo; however I see that it doesnt support FireWire and I want to use it as an ableton machine with a motu 828 FireWire audio box. Any suggestions on adding FireWire? Switching the board or getting a card?

I'd switch the board for a UD4, less hassle

or you could get a FW card, if you do a search on the forum you should be able to find all the info you need to pick up a good one

hope this helps :)

check gigabyte webbie, more reliable :)

P55A-UD4 has 2 FW on the back panel

Any of the available 1156 Gigabyte motherboards can be used. They're all compatible. :D

Or just get this FireWire Card:

It comes with TI chipset, low profile and standard brackets, FW 400 & 800 back plate connectors, & front panel header output.

Quote from Newegg review:

"Great card!

Pros: Easy plug and play install on my Hackintosh! Works great with my RME Fireface 800 audio interface. If you do audio over firewire, you absolutely must have a 1394 card with TI chips. VIA chips will cause all sorts of nasty audio drop outs.

Cons: None, good price, good product."
