I'm using WD 1TB external HDD with ethernet interface as the location for my Time Machine backups.
It worked just fine with SL.
With Lion I can only access that disk as guest. When trying to logon to the ext. HDD as a registered user I have this message: "The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported. Please contact your system administrator to resolve the problem."

Stuck and need help.

Thank you!
I 'm half-way through - with that solution I can logon and browse the disk, I can see the sparcebundle file. However, the Time Machine itself cannot work with the disk, I have this message - The network backup disk does not support the required AFP features.

Any ideas appreciated

From what I've read there needs to be an update to the netatalk package that these devices (and many NAS/Linux/FreeBSD boxes as well) need in order to TimeMachine to work again.

I don't use my FreeNAS box for TimeMachine (I use an external disk on the Airport Extreme), but needed the other changes to be able to login to the FreeNAS box :)

So, no Time Machine backups for a certain period of time. That is sad.

Thanks anyway, your input is appreciated
