Multibeast 5.1.2 can't change install location/no effect

When I try to point mulitbeast 5.1.2 to a different install location other then the boot drive e.g. my usb hdd it didn't run the install it goes back to the menu.
What am I doing wrong?
I ran multibeast under ML and 10.6 and both times I could only apply/install the changes on the boot drive.
Any ideas?

have you found a solution? I need to install kexts to another drive that is not the boot drive.

That is normal. Seems to be the way Apple's installer works.
After you change the install target, just reselect what you want, and it will install... You will notice on the confirmation page that the install location is according to your selection.
