Hello all,

I'm not sure if my system is able to run Mojave.

Intel Core i7 4790K
AS ROCK Z97 EXTREME 4
16GB DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 KFA2

any suggestions?

The GTX 1080 is not supported under Mojave due to the lack of Nvidia web drivers.

You should be able to run MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 or High Sierra 10.13.6, both of which have Nvidia web drivers available.
